Grants Pass Artisans & Crafters Market in July
& The Art along The Wall
July 19, 2008

Medora Nankervis dropped by the Art Wall for a rare visit.  I understand that her book is finished and I suspect she hired the photographer who was following her around to shoot some publicity shots, maybe for the book's back cover?

July has generally been a good month for us artists who regularly display our work along the so-called "Starving Artists Wall," especially after The Daily Courier gave the venue a big boost with a story that ran on the 17th.  Written by Edith Decker, the Courier's entertainment editor, who came out on the 12th to interview artists and other participants, the feature was visually augmented by Courier photographer Jim Krois, who not only took a couple of great photos for the spread but also shot a video segment for the newspaper's online edition.

The following Saturday saw a flurry of activity, with a much larger percentage of the overall crowd taking a stroll along the wall, and many folks who showed up specifically in search of this now-fabled venue!  The bottom line wasn't half bad either; Peace sold a painting (when asked what he got for it he replied, "A check," but then went on to assure me that he got a good fair price (and, for those who might have been interested, Peace's painting of Gilbert Creek and the Patino's building is no longer available (Ya snooze ya lose.)))

The crowd also included several lookers from Ashland and vicinity where the fame of the Art Wall is matched only by the fame of Otto.  Yes indeed, Otto has been getting more attention than usual of late, and it's about time!  A few weeks back we had some Ashlanders buy a collaborative work he did with Peace, so maybe folks really are reading my webpages, where I've been saying for quite some time that if you want your descendants to praise your discriminating eye (not to mention your investment strategy) then you should buy paintings by Otto and Peace.

Mine are solid too, but I should warn you that I plan on living for a very long time.  I'm John Granacki (right) and those two, giant, octagonally-beveled, blank canvases are mine, ready for me to paint whatever you want on them!  I'm also available for painting murals.

Here's the Courier story about the wall, as posted on the wall.  Those are my acrylic paintings in the top photo, "Riverbanks Road" on the left and "Something a Little Closer to Grants Pass" on the right.  Bob Dudi is shown below with a pair of his masterpieces rendered in oil.
