Artisans and Crafters Market, Saturdays in Grants Pass

Actually, I must have posted a good half dozen more of these Artisan Market slideshows online, with pictures taken on various Saturdays throughout 2007 and 2008 (and I think maybe one from 2006...)  I hope Google is keeping track because I'm starting to lose it.  Looking at the others currently linked into the Rogue Planet Internet Arts network, however, I notice that I've focused mostly on the artists/painters who exhibit along The Wall (which hardly seems fair, but yes, I'm probably biased because I'm one of them...)

Today I took a few photos along The Wall, but tried to stick mostly to the booths on fifth street, where a few more painters can also be found, but also some really fantastic craft items.

If you haven't been down here yet, we're here on Fifth Street in downtown Grants Pass, between F & E Streets in the block adjacent to the Growers' Market which happens concurrently: Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.  The Growers' Market continues through Thanksgiving, but the Artisans and Crafters usually fold up in October, when the rain becomes a nuisance and worse.

Among the treasures available for purchase: Hand crafted wooden chess sets, wooden flutes (okay, technically they're called "recorders," but I can't figure out where to insert the tape...), carved knotheads, bauble trees, concrete garden statues, strange little pilings of teapots and plates (someday I'll have to get the Garden Gypsies' story on that...), birdhouses, artsy hose & tool holders, handmade kaleidoscopes, and some very cool custom furniture!

Look!  This week we even had Medora Nankervis, sketching alongside her apprentice, Ariel Cathcart.

The only member of the paparazzi present on this day, I also felt duty bound to get a few shots of R. Samuel Santi (currently the featured artist on display at Harper & Howell), along with another photo featuring about half of the art he brought with him this day (if you wanted to see it all you should have been there!)

Also included in this lineup is a photo of a recent painting by Peace, which is an odd abstract sort of thing and perhaps indicative of a new direction in his work.
